The article examines public perceptions of possible trends in crime in Ukraine during the first three years after the end of the war. The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to develop a scientifically grounded understanding of criminogenic risks in the post-war period, as well as by the need to supplement traditional methods of criminological forecasting with sociological data on public opinion and social expectations. The empirical basis of the study is formed by the results of an online population survey conducted in 2025, involving 1,704 respondents. The article analyzes respondents’ expectations regarding the general crime rate, the dynamics of specific types of criminal offences, regions of increased criminogenic risk, potentially vulnerable social groups, and the main factors that may affect the deterioration of the criminogenic situation in the post-war period. It is established that public consciousness is dominated by the expectation of an increase in crime after the end of the war. Respondents associate the most significant risks with violent criminal offences, the use of firearms, domestic violence, illegal arms trafficking, organized crime, and criminal offences committed under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The study finds that, in the respondents’ view, the main criminogenic factors of the post-war period are concentrated in the psychological, socio-economic, and security dimensions. These include the psychological consequences of war, the spread of pessimism and distrust in the authorities, poverty, unemployment, the presence of a significant number of weapons in circulation, the spread of alcohol and drug abuse, and problems related to the social adaptation of demobilized persons. The article concludes that a sociological survey may serve as a useful auxiliary tool of criminological forecasting; however, its results should be considered not as a selfsufficient forecast, but as one element of a broader prognostic model.
